(Margaret Storm Jameson), 1891–1986, English novelist and critic, b. Whitby, Yorkshire, grad. Leeds Univ., 1912. Descended from a shipbuilding family, she drew on her knowledge of that business for her first three novels, a family chronicle trilogy reprinted as The Triumph of Time (1932). Most of her novels treat ethical and moral problems. Among them are Cousin Honoré (1940), The White Crow (1968), and There Will Be a Short Interval (1973).   1
