(hl´) (KEY) , city (1990 pop. 188,004), Dade co., SE Fla., NW of Miami; inc. 1925. Its industries include printing and the making of metal and plastic goods. Nearby Miami International Airport is a major employer. The city’s population has grown substantially since the 1970s, and a vibrant Cuban community has added to its economic development. Hialeah Park racetrack, now closed, is in the city.
