(zhäkmär´ d d N´) (KEY) , fl. c.13841411, Franco-Flemish manuscript illuminator. Jacquemart illustrated numerous books of hours, including a number of manuscripts for Jean, duc de Berry. Influenced by Sienese painting, his illuminations included elaborate architectural interiors used to place figures in a believable space. Jacquemart is notable also for his marginaliafanciful foliage and animal shapes forming a sort of frame to encompass the manuscript page. |
