(s  n´ ) (KEY) , fl. 13th cent., Italian painter. All that is known of him is an inscription on a large and almost completely repainted Virgin and Child Enthroned, formerly in San Domenico at Siena, now in the Palazzo Pubblico, that reads “Guido de Senis” and bears the date 1221. If this dating is accurate, then he is one of the innovators in Italian art after the dominance of the Byzantine style.
