Fr. Foulques de Neuilly (f lk d nöy ´) (KEY) , d. 1201, French preacher. His sermons and alleged miracles gave him a wide popular following in N France, and in 1199 Pope Innocent III appointed him to preach a new crusade (the Fourth Crusade). Tremendous crowds heard him, but he lost his following when the suspicion spread that he had misused some funds he had collected. |
