(fô-shän) (KEY)  or Namhoi (näm´hoi´) (KEY) , city (1994 est. pop. 368,500), E Guangdong prov., SE China, in the Pearl River delta. An industrial city c.10 mi (15 km) from Guangzhou, it is known for its silk and porcelain manufactures. The Cantonese name for Foshan is Fatshan.
