Ekelund, Vilhelm

(vlm ´klnd´´) (KEY) , 1880–1949, Swedish essayist and poet. Ekelund’s writings were influenced by the works of Nietzsche, Hölderlin, and Swedenborg. After publication of his poetic work Havets stjärna [the star of the sea] (1906), aphoristic prose writing became his primary concern. Antikt ideal [the antique ideal] (1909) was the first of his long series of essays. Ekelund’s works were not widely read generally, but influenced other Scandinavian writers.   1
