(´znrts) (KEY) , town (1991 pop. 7,569), in Styria prov., central Austria, at the northern foot of the Erzberg. There are large ironworks based on iron ore deposits that have been mined there for more than 1,000 years, and Eisenerz supplies the greater part of Austria’s total output of iron.
