Dumont, Pierre Étienne Louis

(pyr tyn´ lw dümôN´) (KEY) , 1759–1829, Swiss jurist and political writer. Dumont knew Mirabeau well and wrote many of his speeches. His Souvenirs sur Mirabeau (1832) is a valuable record of the times. An important work of Dumont was his French edition (1802) of Jeremy Bentham’s Introduction to the Principles of Morals and Legislation (1789).
