town (1991 pop. 16,602), Surrey, SE England. It is a market town and residential suburb of London. Leith Hill, the highest point in SE England (965 ft/294 m), is nearby. The composer Ralph Vaughan Williams lived in Dorking and founded the annual Leith Hill music festival.
