Dobrée, Bonamy
 
 
(bm d´br) (KEY) , 1891–1974, English scholar and critic, b. London, grad. Cambridge (B.A., 1921, M.A., 1924). He served with the Royal Artillery in both world wars, attaining the rank of lieutenant-colonel. Dobrée taught at the Univ. of London, Egyptian Univ. in Cairo, and the Univ. of Leeds. Among his numerous works were Restoration Comedy, 1660–1720 (1924), Restoration Tragedy, 1660–1720 (1929), Rudyard Kipling (1951), English Literature of the Early Eighteenth Century (1959); Alexander Pope (1963), From Milton to Ouida (1970).
