Carpentersville
 
 
village (1990 pop. 23,049), Kane co., NE Ill., on the Fox River, settled 1834, platted 1851, inc. 1887. In a traditionally agricultural area producing corn, soybeans, livestock, and dairy products, Carpentersville is increasingly a residential satellite community of Chicago (38 mi/61 km to the ENE). It has machine-parts, paint, metal fabrication and forging, and other industries.
