or Buddh Gaya (both: b d gä´yä) (KEY) , village (1991 pop. 21,692), Bihar state, E central India. According to tradition, Buddha received enlightenment in Bodh Gaya. The city has extensive relics of Buddhist sculpture (8th12th cent. A.D.) and is the seat of Magadh Univ. Buddhist pilgrims from throughout the world travel there. |
