(blth) (KEY) , 1815–65, American artist, b. East Liverpool, Ohio. Working in Pennsylvania, Blythe produced genre scenes that depict the rough existence of the early frontier. Many of his paintings are satirical portrayals of the everyday world of early 19th-century America.
