NOUN:1. The condition of being unlike or dissimilar: difference, discrepance, discrepancy, disparity, dissimilarity, dissimilitude, divarication, divergence, divergency, unlikeness. See SAME. 2. Recognition of achievement or superiority or a sign of this: accolade, honor, kudos, laurel (often used in plural). See RESPECT. 3. The act or an instance of distinguishing: differentiation, discrimination, separation. See SAME. 4. A position of exalted widely recognized importance: eminence, eminency, fame, glory, illustriousness, luster, mark, notability, note, preeminence, prestige, prominence, prominency, renown. See IMPORTANT, KNOWLEDGE, RESPECT. 5. A special feature or quality that confers superiority: beauty, excellence, merit, perfection, virtue. See GOOD.
