ADJECTIVE:1. Zoology Marked with fine, close-set grooves, ridges, or streaks. 2. Botany Having stiff, straight, closely appressed hair: strigose leaves.
ETYMOLOGY:New Latin strigsus, from striga, bristle, from Latin, windrow, furrow. See streig- in Appendix I.
