NOUN: A herbivorous dinosaur of the genus Triceratops, of the Cretaceous Period, having a bony plate covering the neck, a large horn above either eye, and a smaller horn on the nose.
ETYMOLOGY:New Latin Tricertps, genus name : Greek tri-, tri- + Greek keras, kert-, horn; see ker-1 in Appendix I + Greek ps, eye, face; see okw- in Appendix I.
