ETYMOLOGY:Middle English indiccioun, from Late Latin indicti, indictin-, proclamation, period of 15 years, from Latin indictus, past participle of indcere, to proclaim : in-, intensive pref.; see in–2 + dcere, to say; see deik- in Appendix I.
