ETYMOLOGY:Middle English apotecarie, from Old French apotecaire and from Medieval Latin apothcrius, both from Late Latin, clerk, from Latin apothca, storehouse, from Greek apothk : apo-, away; see apo– + thk, receptacle; see dh- in Appendix I.
