  Writing Senator Lodge on June 6, 1903, describing his return to the White House from his western trip, the President said:   1
  "Josiah, the young badger, is hailed with the wildest enthusiasm by the children, and has passed an affectionate but passionate day with us. Fortunately his temper seems proof."   2
