Andrew Macphail, comp.  The Book of Sorrow.  1916.

IV. Inevitable
Three Poems
ii. Storm
By Florence Randal Livesay (1874–1953)

Translated from the Ukrainian of Fedkovich

‘HOW it blows
From Yuha!
See how the dark cloud grows!
What wrath it brings!…
But when, who knows,        5
O villagers of Yuha,
Will it dry
Your bleeding wounds?
Ah, when…?’

‘Is it you, still,        10
O Villager of Yuha?’
‘Still it is I.
Cleansèd, my wounds
All healèd lie.’
