Saint Ambrose

Lust is a sharp spur to vice, which always putteth the affections into a false gallop.

Nulla ætas ad perdiscendum est—There is no time of life past learning something.

Prayer is the wing wherewith the soul flies to heaven; and meditation the eye with which we see God.

True repentance is to cease from sin.

Validius est naturæ testimonium quam doctrinæ argumentum—The testimony of nature is weightier than the arguments of the learned.
