The Wee One
Anonymous

(From Ane Pleasant Garden [c. 1800]; edited by C. Kirkpatrick Sharpe)

A SLEE one, a slee one,
  I neere saw sic a slee one;
The first night that I with him lay,
  Oh, then he got this wee one.

This wee one, this wee one,        5
  This bonny winking wee one;
I’d bin a maid amongst the rest
  Wer’t not I got this wee one.
