A Requiem for the Memory of Bees

Yvor Winters

Lake Michigan

A BROWN flowering tree

On twilight

Was but a farther spinning of

the sprinkled blackbirds.

A woman walking,

The evening dying.

Her dress among low blossoms.

Among low blossoms

Lake water humming.
