Moonrise Mockery

Genevieve Taggard

From “The Way Things Go”

MOVE nearer, lover

Fearful of me and the moon.

I have put flowers in my bosom for you;

For you I am remembering

Hundreds of moons,

Half a hundred lovers;

For you I am heavy with the odor of love

And old days.
