Burdens

William H. Simpson

From “In Hopi-land and Other Lands”

BURDEN of water jars,

Borne up steep trails;

Burden of babies,

Asleep in thonged cradles.

And a heaped-up load of loving,

Carried lightly,

Over all the trails

To the end of them.
