Sun Prayer

Mary Carolyn Davies

From “A Day”

SUN,

Lay your hand upon my head.

I shall be kind today.

Sun, make me kind!

And lovely too—

My eyes

And cheeks. And make me wise.

I bow my head

Low, low—

Lay your hand upon it, so.
