          Sir Kenelm Digby, who died on June 11th, 1665, was an English philosopher and student of the natural sciences. He was a royalist and became chancellor to Queen Henrietta Maria.

BORN on the day he died, the eleventh of June;
And that day bravely fought at Scanderoon.
How rare that one and the same day should be
His day of birth, of death, and victory.
