Frank J. Wilstach, comp. A Dictionary of Similes. 1916.

Thomas Ashe

A sweet bewildering pain,
Like flowers in the wind and rain.

As fair as summer roses.

Fluctuated like a stormy sea, urged by the secret Furies.

Follow’d her desire, as sunlight tracks the shadow of a cloud.

Glided like a flame of wind-blown fire.

Green as a leaf.

Happy as the sunlight.

Lips, as smooth and tender … as rose-leaves in a coppice wild.

Noiseless as the sunlight.

Turn’d, as a vessel holds to sea, when near a Siren strand.

Weak as unfledged nestling in the falcon’s grip.

Like a cowslip, growing wild.
