Frank J. Wilstach, comp. A Dictionary of Similes. 1916.

Anacreon

Blooming as health.

Dumb as Philomel.

Fresh as May-flowers.

Light as the leaf that summer’s breeze
Has wafted o’er the glassy seas.

A lip like Persuasion’s, calling on us to kiss it.

Like the wine and roses, smiles.

Soft as the broken solar beam,
That trembles in the solar stream.
