The First Book of the Chronicles
The Descendants of Judah
The sons of Judah; Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.
And Re-ai'ah the son of Shobal begat Jahath; and Jahath begat Ahu'mai, and Lahad. These are the families of the Zo'rathites.
And these were of the father of Etam; Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash: and the name of their sister was Hazelel-po'ni:
and Penu'el the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Eph'ratah, the father of Bethlehem.
And Ashur the father of Teko'a had two wives, Helah and Na'arah.
And Na'arah bare him Ahu'zam, and Hepher, and Te'meni, and Ha-ahash'tari. These were the sons of Na'arah.
And the sons of Helah were, Zereth, and Jezo'ar, and Ethnan.
And Coz begat Anub, and Zobe'bah, and the families of Ahar'hel the son of Harum.
And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
And Chelub the brother of Shu'ah begat Mehir, which was the father of Eshton.
And Eshton begat Bethra'pha, and Pase'ah, and Tehin'nah the father of Irna'hash. These are the men of Rechah.
And the sons of Kenaz; Oth'ni-el, and Serai'ah: and the sons of Oth'ni-el; Hathath.
And Me-o'no-thai begat Ophrah: and Serai'ah begat Jo'ab, the father of the valley of Char'ashim; for they were craftsmen.
And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephun'neh; Iru, Elah, and Na'am: and the sons of Elah, even Kenaz.
And the sons of Jehal'eleel; Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiri'a, and As'areel.
And the sons of Ezra were, Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon: and she bare Miriam, and Sham'mai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemo'a.
And his wife Jehudi'jah bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Jeku'thi-el the father of Zano'ah. And these are the sons of Bithi'ah the daughter of Pharaoh, which Mered took.
And the sons of his wife Hodi'ah the sister of Naham, the father of Kei'lah the Garmite, and Eshtemo'a the Ma-ach'athite.
And the sons of Shimon were, Amnon, and Rinnah, Benha'nan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were, Zoheth, and Benzo'heth.
The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were, Er the father of Lecah, and La'adah the father of Mare'shah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbe'a,
and Jokim, and the men of Choze'ba, and Jo'ash, and Saraph, who had the dominion in Moab, and Ja'shubile'hem. And these are ancient things.
These were the potters, and those that dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his work.
The Descendants of Simeon
¶ The sons of Simeon were, Nem'u-el, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Sha'ul:
Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.
And the sons of Mishma; Ham'u-el his son, Zacchur his son, Shim'e-i his son.
And Shim'e-i had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children of Judah.
And they dwelt at Beersheba, and Mol'adah, and Ha'zarshu'al,
and at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,
and at Bethu'el, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,
and at Bethmar'caboth, and Ha'zarsu'sim, and at Bethbir'ei, and at Sha-ara'im. These were their cities unto the reign of David.
And their villages were, Etam, and A'in, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities:
and all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Ba'al. These were their habitations, and their genealogy. Josh. 19.2-8
¶ And Mesho'bab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amazi'ah,
and Joel, and Jehu the son of Josibi'ah, the son of Serai'ah, the son of A'si-el,
and Eli-oe'nai and Ja-ako'bah, and Jeshohai'ah, and Asai'ah, and Ad'i-el, and Jesim'i-el, and Benai'ah,
and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedai'ah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemai'ah;
these mentioned by their names were princes in their families: and the house of their fathers increased greatly.
And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.
And these written by name came in the days of Hezeki'ah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks.
And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Se'ir, having for their captains Pelati'ah, and Ne-ari'ah, and Rephai'ah, and Uz'zi-el, the sons of Ishi.
And they smote the rest of the Amal'ekites that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.
