Polyethylene has a zig-zag conformation with C-C and C-H bonds of 153 pm and 107 pm
length, respectively. The C-C-C bond angle is 109.5 degrees. See attached figure.
Syndiotactic PVC adopts also a planar zig-zag conformation when it crystallizes (crystallinity
is usually small in PVC). The van der Waals diameter for hydrogen and chlorine is 239 pm and
356 pm, respectively. (Round the calculated value to integer).
