" While the means--the technologies--become ever more complex...Goals such as freedom or wealth are seldom questioned, but it is often unclear what these mean, for whom, and at what cost. The focus is on extending the means of development, pursuing new technologies. Goals are given such content as will the technological means available. Thus “success” becomes not a state of flourishing but as acquiring more possessions. “educated” no longer connotes wisdom but possessing measurable and marketable skills".

The advancement of Technology has become more advanced in the modern world, that the citizens of this world are not longer concerned about their freedom or how to become wealthy in this world. The American people no longer know what it truly means to be free and what success or wealth truly means. Our leaders have now shifted the focus on developing and how to generate more revenue. Our goals are no longer goals but we are told that the only way to reach such a Hight, you must be technologically savvy. This has altered our minds to not look at success as a state of being present and trusting the process, but that we need to be successful so that we can acquire more things. We no longer look at being educated as a state of knowing or wisdom, but what skills we possess, so we can help someone else's dream continue to become a reality while we diminish our own.

This quote relates to my everyday life because I remember a time before technology was around and I felt that I was able to think more freely and to come up with the my own concepts about life and goals that I wanted to obtain without the influence of social media, the news and marketing. I've noticed since I started using technology more ( social media ) you see the illusion it creates that your ideas aren't good or the things you have should be upgraded to something better. It only allows you to see the result and not the process, so it can make me feel that I am not doing enough or that I need to add more to my plate, when in essence I'm doing just fine at the pace I'm choosing to go. I has caused me to not be concerned about gaining knowledge or understanding sometimes and to just be okay with seeing senseless memes, photos, post and videos.

“Through advertising of particular devices or propaganda for acceptance of technologies in general, the marketing of technology persuades the public to accept new technologies. This process denies that technologies are simply freely chosen by the public in the marketplace and emphasizes the ability of advertising to sell the technologies to the public.”

In today's world Marketing and the media have pushed their agenda on us to accept the advancement of new technologies.  This such marketing has not allowed us to second guess the different technological devices being thrown at us, but instead show us that newer is better.

This article too closely relates to the previous one that I included at the beginning. It holds a lot of truth because that is exactly what the mass media has done with advertising. It was designed to make you continue to buy new things and to make you feel that the items you already have are no longer good enough, which is continuing to allow companies putting out goods to thrive. It shows that we have lost our natural abilities to create and posses things on our own and we continue to relay on other's to make our lives more sustainable.

What are some questions that can derrive from the quote with explanation listed above, and from a business management standpoint?
