The government was working with chicken suppliers to deliver as much stock
as possible to stores amid the ongoing disruptions to processing and grocery
supply chains across the country. The government has given approval to 32
companies from three countries to bring frozen whole chicken into Malaysia to
overcome this problem. The frozen chickens imported from nine plants in
Thailand and two in China were safe and halal as the matter had been handled
by an inspection committee by Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM).
