Introduction The core competencies that the schools have implemented have been developed by the central office, by the school themselves and by teachers within the school. I will be identifying three core competencies that I have worked with in the past year and evaluate their relevance in the school setting. I will also be looking at how the rest the school uses these competencies, along with ways that we might be able to improve upon them.
Core Competencies of the School There are many core competencies that have been identified, developed and put into place in my school. There are different levels that could develop the competency, all of them are important when looking at the mission of the school. The mission for South High is to provide

The students that participate with the link crew must be nominated by a staff member based on the work ethic and level of responsibility that the student exhibits. Nominations are taken at the end of the year for the following years groups. Teachers nominate those students that they believe demonstrate the vision and mission of the school in everyday life. The school does an adequate job of finding and developing these students. The job of the link crew is to establish a partnership between the school and the community. The link crew will voluntary at events in the community, help with transitioning the 9th grade students to the high school setting and mentor 9th students who might be struggling with the transition from middle …show more content…
I believe that determining how the competency is going to improve the school is the most important part in the design. If the competency is not going to improve the school, then it must be changed so it does improve an aspect of the school. Then the school needs to look at what students will be affected by the new initiative. Since the students are the driving force of the school, their level of success drives the direction of the school. The school needs to ensure that the competency will help the students to meet the mission and vision of the school. Finally, which educator is going to take the lead and roll out the new competency, working with and leading the faculty and students so they may succeed with this new competency. There are many steps and it is a long process to develop a new competency and implement it in the school
I am a member of the Better Seeking Team at my elementary school. This committee is a leadership team responsible for driving decisions and changes in a positive direction. The National Institute for Urban School Improvement describes the school leadership team as “a school-based group of individuals who work to provide a strong organizational process for school renewal and improvements.” (2005, p. 2) As a member of this team, we recently attended the 2015 Model Schools Conference presented by the International Center for Leadership in Education. Bill Daggett, the founder and chairman of the ICLE, says its focus “has been devoted to observing, studying, and supporting the transformation of the nation’s most rapidly improving schools. The key to improving student performance is a tireless focus on providing rigorous and relevant instruction, and that every level of the education organization must be tightly aligned and carefully coordinated around that singular goal.” (n.d.) My professional goal for the coming school year is to implement the major aspects from one of the presentations our team deemed most significant at the conference, the Rigor/Relevance Framework for teaching in a twenty-first-century classroom.
One of K-State’s top priorities is ensuring that the students feel safe on campus. The university offers a training called A.L.I.C.E., which teaches people what to do in an active shooter situation. Though the training is offered through the university, it is not very often a public training. I feel Mortar Board could, with the help of the university police, host a public A.L.I.C.E., host an open to the public training session. This training helps develop skills you hope you will never need to use. But when faced with an active shooter situation could be life saving. Hosting a training would allow more people to learn these skills and would help K-State take another step to ensuring campus safety.
Determination of Competencies: Blanding Elementary's core competencies came from a mixture of Top-down/Middle-out approaches. Soon after becoming a Principal, Burge attended Principals Academy at Brigham Young University. The focus of training was to help administrators evolve PLC environments in their schools in which teachers in grade-level work together to grow common curriculum and assessments, evaluate data, and collaborate on determining and implementing best practices. Using the principals academy experience, and training provided by the district, Burge and the school leadership team formed a partnership, and began implementing what they were learning, and worked hand in hand towards the same goals based on the needs of their organization. Not only was the principal and leadership team invested, but the collaboration brought experience and resources into the process, which lead to success. Core competencies materialized once the leadership team started collaborating with grade-level teams and administration provided feedback from classroom
Name the core competency. Provide a paraphrased or summary of the interviewee’s answer about how the core competency is incorporated in the unit, department, and organization’s strategic plan. You may quote the interviewee, but sparingly. Do NOT provide a verbatim transcript of everything that was said.
I am honored to be nominated by teachers and fellow peers to become a member of Connect Crew. Ultimately my interest in Connect Crew can be connected to my love in assisting others, however my fascination with Connect crew can be traced way back to my first year. Throughout my freshman year, and especially on my first day at HSHMC I was astonished by the chemistry of the schools community. My first day on campus I was immediately approached and greeted by upperclassmen. I can distinctly remember a very welcoming atmosphere, something I would have never expected going to your typical high school. With this experience, and the help of connect crew I would like to build on the school’s community, and welcome the lowerclassmen into a safe HSHMC
As Vice President of Link Crew, a program that leads freshman orientation, I provide younger students with a mentor and encourage them to get involved.
Core competencies are the capabilities that are critical to a business achieving competitive advantage. The starting point for analysing core competencies is recognising that competition between businesses is as much a race for competence mastery as it is for market position and market power. (Prahalad and Hamel)
Core competencies are set of skills, expertise and professionalism which the service is executed (Johnston & Clark 2001). They make a firm to stand apart and develop a competitive advantage.
Core Competencies: The Company is full of assurance and potential. Each and every day represents a new opportunity to share Vision, strategy and style.
My 2016-2017 adventure in Link Crew was life-changing. The experiences I was able to gain are some I will never forget. I want to be in Link Crew, as a senior this time, to continue spreading a message of school unity and support. One of the best parts about going to Souderton is how deeply and wholeheartedly authoritative figures attempt to make everyone who goes here feel welcome; how deeply authoritative figures make students feel like they are part of something bigger than just their family or their tiny circle of friends. I think that’s what everyone craves at the end of the day: to be a part of something. It’s beautiful having a school that provides that feeling and that environment. I think this thought process, my thought process, is
Every person gravitate its strengths to step up in life like the best cook in a family makes meals. The mechanically inclined person in a family fixes the broken parts at home and a plant lover takes care of the garden. Similarly, the businesses use their strengths to position themselves in the market. However they follow a formal path for developing core competencies. Successful businesses follow an exact approach to identify and define their core competencies and then jointly follow them. For example, Auto manufacturers restrict themselves only to the tasks that they do best like assembling or designing automobiles, leaving additional tasks for others. This keeps their mission clear and defined.
Core competencies are the most significant value creating skills within a company and key areas of expertise that are distinctive to a company and critical to the company's long-term growth. Core competencies are the pieces that a company is superior than its competitors in the critical, central areas of the company where the most value is added to its products. These areas of expertise may be in any area from product development to employee dedication. A competence which is central to business's operations but which is not exceptional in some way is not considered as a core competence, as it will not generate a differentiated advantage over rival businesses. It follows from the concept of core competencies; resources that are
