Regarding to the happiness of the whole family, I do not know the truth whether financial sustainability for my family and extended family will make us all happy. There is a possibility that at one point in time I or any other family member will be able to solve the family’s financial difficulties. I do believe that it would be great if no one in the family has to worry about the money. It gives them the options to consider other goals other than making a sustainable career. Yes, I would love this. I would love to be able to give my family the same freedom I did. I am tired of seeing people’s goal to be about money. In UC Berkeley, there are numerous amount of students who chose a major for their career solely on the purpose that it is financially sustainable. I am not working hard right now to be able to make money for my future family. My main reason for working hard is for myself – to accomplish my goal and to be able to expand the knowledge of humanity. Yes, now I can see how this can be a dilemma for others, but for me if I succeed, my goal is still able to sustain my family’s finance – not every member in the extended family however – and keep me permanently happy. This may not be so for others.
Is there a risk for me and my family in attempting my father’s goal? Yes, for example I may have to sacrifice time to earn money. I do not want to be a father who cannot spend time with their wife and children because of work. The lack of focus on the family will weaken the
Earning an education could cost you for your entire life, especially if you do not apply for the various types of financial aid. After earning their degree, several students do not earn enough money with the field they have chosen to pay off their debt, making the degree seem pointless. Families that pay for their children’s tuition often wonder, like Linda Lee, if their child is getting what they pay for. Parents pay for the tuition because they do not want their children to miss out on the “college experience.” However, when their child fails to make the right decisions or simply acts their age, it leaves the family wondering if they have made a
My parents have taught me getting a college degree will be my way out of struggling with finances. A college degree is something that no one can take away from me. I want to be able to help my family and community to be more financially stable by helping them learn how to increase their wealth. The next reason why is for young girls who live in small foreign countries outside of the United States and do not have the opportunity to get an education. I am doing it for them because they are not given the chance too. Another reason that I am pursuing an
Why Focusing Too Narrowly In College Could Backfire by Peter Cappelli was very detailed about the author’s points in today’s society. I enjoyed reading this passage, because I agree with the author that there are not enough guaranteed jobs out there for students after they graduate. I have been experiencing this first hand because I will be graduating in May, and the job field is tough and very competitive. The author’s thesis in the passage is clear, “The economy is still shaky, and many graduating students are unable to find jobs that pay well, if they can find jobs at all.” I believe that professors need to tell their students more and prepare them more that the economy is very unstable at all times, and no job is ever promised or promised
My father is some who has sacrificed a lot of his lifetime. My father has never let an opportunity go and has never allowed any time to go to waste when it came to his own prosperity or his children’s. The fact is he didn’t attend my races or even be part of special occasions, but he always made it up to me by using financial resources to support me and my interests. He always use to give me money before my big races so if I ever got hungry, I would have something to eat. Moreover, even though he works everyday he takes time out to spend quality time with my brothers and I from his busy schedule. Instead of siting o
College graduates can pull in higher paying employers, therefore the states can benefit by earning money off of these employers. Some children’s families cannot manage to help pay for the fees, housing, meals, books, supplies, and personal/transportation expenses, even with the pell grants and other scholarships being offered to them. Sixty percent of college students stress about not having enough money to pay for school, the other percentage are worried about not having enough to pay their monthly expenses on top of school (“College”). This in return may put a burden on society from becoming booming with well advanced and bold civilians due to the lack of interaction with college level wisdom. Student’s should all have a chance at further promoting their lives to flourish at what they believe they want to become, without having to deal with the later emotional struggles of money. Although graduates may pull in higher paying employers, the
While many students will have to spend lots of money paying for college, I will be earning paychecks. I know that it will take some time before I earn paychecks large enough to pay for a house of my own, but I am confident that with hard work and patience I will be living independently sooner than I would if I attended college. In his article, “10 Rules for Going to College When Nobody Expected you to,” Joe Rodriquez actually said, “don’t worry too much about the high cost of college tuition”(12). On the contrary, the high cost of college tuition is something that everyone should worry about. It’s easy to say “don’t worry about it” when you are not the person who has to pay for something. There are news stories all of the time that talk about the enormous amount of students who have debt that they can’t pay because of the lack of jobs for college graduates. College tuitions costs have risen drastically over the past decades. Going to college is good idea for students who know the job they want requires a degree. If a student is unsure about their future career, then they should consider working for a while before they spend money on college
In order to gain financial stability we have been taught education is key. Which for the most part is true, it is what we do with our schooling that guides us throughout our lives. My experience with education I have been generally surrounded by two outcomes: either my peers have come up and ahead into advanced classes and entered great universities or, into the other end of the spectrum where they have been neglected
Ultimately the most crucial factor in one’s decision to go to receive a higher education should not be money based, but whether they are pursuing a career field that they at least enjoy if not love. Although it may be true for some that a higher education
There I was in my car thinking about my family's past. I remember how my parents couldn't go to school. How I wanted things to change by doing something which my parents didn’t do which was to go to college. Most people can’t determine if college is actually valuable or useless. Colleges are known for being really expensive and many students will need to get tuition. But on the other side college opens chances for students to learn skills to help them in their jobs. College is worth it for some people because it opens up the chance to get more experiences and benefits in their future lives, but for others it may not be worth it since they cannot afford it and may be in debt.
Growing up, it is easy to imagine the future playing out something like this: attend college, score that dream job, get rich, get married, have kids, and live happily ever after. It all sounds pretty familiar, however many young adults find that life does not always happen so simply. There are horror stories everywhere. Students graduate, fail to find a job in their field as they expected, and are left feeling hopeless as their credit card and loan bills pile sky high. Take Paige Nichols for example. Paige grew up in a family that was well-off financially. Her parents were able to pay for her two younger siblings’ college educations and, like many middle class children, she was used to getting what she wanted. However, by the time it was her turn to go to college, her parents’ financial situation had gone downhill and she was left to pay for her education by herself. After four years she graduated with a business degree and $20,000 in debt to go with it. Her payment plan was set at $300 per month, and although she had jobs, she was used to living frivolously, and therefore only made the bare minimum payment of $50 most months. This left her in a position where she would remain in debt until she was 50 years old. A few years after graduating with her bachelor’s, she considered going back for her master’s in forensic psychology, something she had grown very fond of. However, since she was already inundated with student debt and could not afford to spend an extra
The human characteristics of greed and materialism are a disguise that provide an ephemeral distraction, which over time, creates dissatisfaction. If asked what a person’s overarching life’s objective is, most would answer to be happy and loved. Yet, the misconception that happiness and money are interchangeable is still widely felt.
Students from all over the United States are told all through their life that they need to attend college if they ever want to be successful, however, this is far from the truth. Often schools are culprits for driving students to attend money driven colleges, in other cases it is family. While schools all too often make the push on students to continue their schooling, parents can cause the same situation, as they may not have a degree and be working a low-paying factory job. Now kids already don’t want to be like their parents when they get older, so seeing them suffer in poverty or barely above the poverty line can cause some dissatisfaction, further seeking a degree to live a life that they never got. What many
Before I told my parents I had decided to be a graphic designer, I did a little research on the job. It was good, but required lots experiences to get in a decent game company like Riot. But I did not stick with one job. I also heard of 3D modeling, programming and animation were good choices for me and I liked them too. I decided to go to City Tech College for four years education in Emerging Media major and I hoped I could get a job I like to do. According to the article “As Income Gap Widens, New York Grows Apart” written by James Parrott, college educated young workers’ earning has fallen 6% since 1990. And it’s false that those who pursue higher education and skills can get a higher economic reword. Everything is competitive now; the value of education does not count toward our future income earning. I realize that even if I graduated from the college there was higher chance I would not have a job or a job that I did not expect and paid very low. However, I do like what I do right now in my major class. I think if you did what you want and be happy with it, it doesn’t matter how low you get paid you still fulfill in your life.
Sure, I understand that life is not just a bed of roses and challenges and hardships are an integral element of life. As my parents could not help me to cover my college expenses in full, paying off my student loan has become an important challenge for me. I combine a part-time job and full-time study to earn my living and my education. Yet, I feel triumphant at the beginning of every month when I receive my wages and I plan how I will spend my money…
In posing these questions to my family i saw what the study pointed out and that is that even know there is quite a big gap in earning some of the issues are the same the first question i asked What is your Greatest aspiration in life? the resounding answer was happy and healthy which is similar to the answer the study got. the next question what is your greatest aspiration for you children? and this too fielded about the same answer that the study got and that was that the children to have a sense of self reliance and to be happy and content but an addendum to that question is do you feel responsible for their successes and failures this was a resounding yes the responsibility of carrying the burden of success and failure was hard because of the simple fact is do you use your money to help or do you find another way to help the last question in the series was how does money help or hinder you life goals. the answers were different the median income parents said that the money neither help or hindered the situation at hand but more money would be nice to to other things but was unnecessary the family with the higher income said that money helps the situation because of the giving component the ability to give time and money to a worthy cause other that his own. during these conversations i saw the similarities in the answers even though there is a
