One of the big issues that is growing in todays’ society is Violent video games effect negatively on youngsters. This issue is growing because many of these games are featured aggressive elements that lead youngsters towards violence. For most players, video games are fun but also violent games take over the lives of some player. Since the world of video games was started in the 1980s, the video games still getting new level of popularity in this world. Most people are getting really addictive of these violent video games. The first important reason why violent video games are dangerous for children is that they spend their most time on playing video games and don’t pay attention in real world. After a while they start to live in fantasy world. The second reason is violent video games caused mental disturbance in children. Because children spent their most of the time on playing video games, they are most likely to skip school and have poor grades. The most important reason is that violent video games can effect on children’s behavior. These games leads towards aggressive behavior that can be dangerous for others.

More methods for playing violent games are made every year. Being so excessive in playing video games can have numerous consequences for teenagers. They need to start limiting their gameplay which may have various beneficial outcomes.

Violence in association with video games has been a debate that has been circulating for some time now. In light of the onslaught of recent public shootings, most shooters being adolescent males, research is resurfacing once again posing the question, “Do violent video games influence or cause extreme aggressive behavior and cognition?” The research suggests that while violent video games may stimulate internal arousal, there is no evidence to support the theory that violent video games actually cause or provoke adolescents to commit violent crimes. Around 90% of children in the United States play video games. 80 % of video game sales are violent games. Juvenile crime and arrest rates have declined 48% since 1996 indicating that violent video games do not prompt adolescents to commit violent crimes.

The American Psychological Association reports that more than 90% of children in the United States play video games.Among kids between the ages of 12 and 17, the number rises to 97%. The psychological group also reported that 85% or more of video games on the market contain some form of violence (Do Video Games Lead to Violence). A video game may be considered violent if it contains “violent” language, gore/blood, and crime. Video games are given parental levels of what age is mature enough to play that game. Although games are fun and entertaining many people worry about the violent content within some games. Violent video gaming has been a huge topic of concern because people fear it will lead to aggressive behavior. Although there is considerable evidence that link violent video games to aggressive behavior and cognition, the interpretation of the connection differs in each study and the fact still remains, the debate is ongoing.

Currently, a popular opinion in America is that video games are bad for individuals. This idea stems from the idea that violence is a socially learned, and thus playing violent games can help learn violence in adolescence. I decided to write my paper on this topic because I grew up playing video games, both violent and non-violent, and still play video games. In my experience, looking at myself and my friends who play video games, I never saw a correlation between video games and learned violence. A journal published by the American Psychology Association written by Christopher Ferguson makes the argument that while video games have negative effects, they also have significant positive effects. However, journals from the Journal of Adolescence, Pergamon Press, and a different journal from the American Psychology Association make claims that video games can have negative effects on adolescence in the form of learned aggression. I believe that it is important to discuss this topic because more and more adolescences are playing video games and the effect of these video games on the development will be very important as time goes on.

Through extensive exposure to violent video games, individuals, especially adolescents, are subject to many psychological issues. After playing these video games, gamers typically exhibit more aggressive behaviour than they would have had they not played the game. Well known studies have been conducted by

Gruel, the author of this article, argues that there is an overwhelming amount of science and research that supports the claim that video games that are violent are indeed harmful to human development. It affects their development by causing them to act more violently. He begins by discussing that over time, usage of violent video games among youth has increased dramatically. This occurred because of the introduction of “first-person shooter”. This feature has led to video games becoming more and more graphic. It is because of this increased violence, researchers concluded that video games do alter the way players make decisions in their lives. It changes the way that the brain functions. This altered brain activity is correlated to increased aggression. In the position of first-player, the brain perceives what is happening to be real. The same chemicals released in “fight or flight” are released when playing in “first person shooter” which he claimed desensitizes the brain. There are some studies to suggest that playing violent video games may be harmful to children and adolescents. These types of games may effect peoples’ sensitivity to violent situations. This could be due to the development of more realistic graphics in media, which leads to greater feelings of presence within the games (Lull and Bushman, 2016). In addition, children and adolescents learn primarily through observational learning. While playing violent video games, they are taking in a lot of aggressive information, which may affect them over time.

The video game industry has become a huge market in today’s society. It has been a fast-growing industry since it started. Today, many video games are directed towards youth.
