Coming into junior year and taking an AP English class, I am extremely nervous. Outside of English, I am taking two other AP classes, so I am worried about the work load that I will be responsible for throughout the year. I have heard from my older sister that AP English is a fun, great class. Throughout my eleven years of school, I have always been one to challenge myself and I fell that by taking AP English I will be challenging myself once again. I am looking forward to a good year this year. Outside of school, I have numerous hobbies to help take my mind off the heavy schoolwork. My number one hobby in my life is ice hockey. I have been playing ever since I moved from New York at the age of five. I play for a club team that plays at Ice Line called the Quakers, and I also play for East. I made the varsity team as a freshman and I have made …show more content…
Another hobby of mine is playing baseball. I play for Exton Little League and I also started playing at the age of five. My third hobby is playing outside. Whenever it is a beautiful, sunny day I make sure that I get outside. When I am outside, I usually throw a football around with my brother or neighbor. My hobbies allow me to take my mind off of school and have fun. When school ended in June of last year, I was ecstatic because I knew I was going to go on numerous vacations. The first thing I did over the summer was go on a mission trip to New York. This was a new experience for me since I am extremely shy and it pushed my comfort zone. While in New York, my group worked in Astoria, Queens, where we tiled floors and stained wooden floors. At first I thought that the mission trip would be boring, but I had fun and met new people. Another thing I did during the summer was travel to Lake Placid, New York, for a hockey camp. I stayed in Lake Placid for a week where all we did was skate. Although very tiring, the
Our volleyball team lost our first two games, but after that we practiced everyday and went the rest of the season, eleven games, undefeated. On the way back home from the volleyball games it was late, but we would stop at a fast food restaurant to get something to eat. Therefore, I usually got home from volleyball late which messed up my school work. Theses two sports in my Middle School experience provided me with many friends. I enjoyed these two hobbies a lot because I learned a lot about
English 102 is a college level of reading and writing course based on the theme monster. When I started the class, I thought monsters as scary creature in the books and movies. As I progressed in English 102, I found out monsters is more than what I though t is. Monsters can represent the fear of people and society, a problem in a society, something that is keep coming back and coming back(Such as financial crisis), natural hazard and danger. It also can serve as a warning; so, people avoid the same mistakes.
Outside of taking photographs I enjoy taking part in my hobbies in and out of school. Ususally you can find me working with my dance team for the highschool in the fall. Otherwise you can find me drawing, riding horses, dancing at the studio, working, or hanging out with my friends. I have a passion in everything I do and try my best in everything that I do.
Advanced Placement classes were something that I have considered and that I continue to consider. A challenge and a college credit is why I would like to take this AP English course. In addition, I would like to take this AP class to ameliorate my weaknesses in grammar and vocabulary. I believe that this class could also benefit in my career, learning harder vocabulary so I can sound more intelligent when I speak. However, considering how nerve racking it is for me to be joining an AP class since the workload maybe overkill, I wish for this class to build up important writing skills.
In English 186 class with teacher Randolph, we did many activities that helped me improving my English skill. For example, every week vocabulary, every day class exercises and ethnomethodology project Assignment. Those class activates had so many benefits for me. It had also positive outcome in my every day activates. On addition, the class helped me a lot. Showed up on class every day and participation had a good effect for

Being in high school is such a fun and stressful time, only worried about the simple things: grades and boys. Looking back now it was all so easy. It’s my sophomore year and I’m attending Homewood High School; the school year is coming to a close and of course I’m happy. A rumor starts going around that the hardest English teacher Ms. Gnat who is currently teaching 12th grade English will be moving down to teach 11th grade, my friends and I are hoping this is not true. Right before the end of the school year; its confirmed that she will be moving down to the 11th. My friends and I are hoping we don’t get her not knowing it will be the best thing for us.
When I was in fifth grade I started to play basketball, and I loved it. At that time basketball was the first sport I ever played in, and now that is my most favorite sport ever. I also play lacrosse and soccer. In the summer I like to sometimes do water activities at my cabin and lounge in the sun on the lake, on a paddle board, at the end of the dock, or on the pontoon or speed boat with a friend. My first ever vacation was to Arizona when I was in seventh grade. Me and my family hiked the grand canyon, went to Scottsdale, and did other things that I don’t remember. But that was during valentine's weekend and during basketball season so we bought a basketball and at night I would practice while my aunt and uncle were in the hot tub with my
“Just follow the rubric and you will do very well during your high school English experience each,” teacher stated. Teachers handed out a rubric at the beginning of each assignment, which detail every single thing that needed to be included in your paper. As long and you followed all of the instruction stated in the rubric, your paper would qualify you to receive an A. At the time, I thought this method was rather effective. I thought I was a stronger writer as result of being able to follow the instruction from the rubric and always receiving an A on each assignment. I never received anything lower than a 93% in any of my high school English classes. Therefore, I transitioned from high school English to college English with the idea
One of the main things I did this summer was go to Chicago. We left early Saturday morning and we returned the following Sunday. The Chicago trip was a mission trip to teach children about Jesus. I specifically got to teach the children songs and got to sing with them along with my friends Hank and Allie. The kids were great, they had so much enthusiasm it was amazing. We played a soccer game at a park nearby it was fun, but I quickly realized I’m not any good at soccer.
The activity that I am most involved in is playing the violin. It satisfies different aspects of my life. It pushes me to be competitive, while it also encourages me to collaborate. It permits me to be a teacher, while it also lets me be taught.
As of next year I will be a senior in AP Literature and Composition. Originally I wanted to take this class in my Junior year but felt intimidated by the work load, as well as other reasons. However, this year I look forward to taking this class and I am willing to work hard for it.
I was 12 when I was diagnosed. I didn’t even know what thyroid disease was, let alone radioactivity. My mom told me a bit about it, but it was still hard to process. I was told I had to consume a pill, that contained radioactive iodine, to help my illness. The idea of eating a radioactive pill was thrilling in my perspective of things. I had asked my mom, “Will I glow in the dark because that would be pretty awesome.” but she laughed at the idea and replied with, “ No, silly, it doesn’t work like that.” I was a bit disappointed, but I could still fantasize.
In my free time I practice field hockey, which I play on the UPMS team. I love playing for the varsity team on either left or right wing. I prefer offensive positions because I like to use my speed to dribble up and score on goal. Field hockey is my passion and I am always trying diligently to improve. When I am not on the field, I am watching Netflix shows like The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl or Riverdale. These shows are my favorite because I enjoy watching fiction and comparing the tv character’s ridiculous lives to mine. Besides relaxing, I typically focus on schoolwork like plunging into a book, writing, or even preparing for a public speaking event.Reading assignments are a breeze, writing is my favorite thing to do in class, but public speaking can sometimes churn up negative feelings.
Outside of school, I have danced and skied nearly my entire life, I started volleyball (both court and beach) a couple of years ago and most recently taken up lacrosse. Each of these activities are important to me because they are not only things I am passionate about but they are
