Recently, people are now discussing how social media changes our life, whether it is good or bad. Some of them think that social media is a kind of fad because of its rapid development. Others think that it is really useful and makes our life easier than before. Yes, social media develops rapidly. From the “Is Social Media a Fad” video, we know that over 50% of the world’s population is under 30 years old. That means that a large number of the world’s population is young. And from the same video, we understand that 96% of millennials have joined a social network. For example, a famous social media, Facebook, tops Google’s weekly traffic in the U.S. The video also shows us how other types of social media have developed over the time. While it took Radio 38 years and TV 13 years to reach 50 million users, it only took the Internet four years and the iPod three years to reach that mark. So, “we don’t have choice on whether we do social media, the question is how well we do it.”(Erik Qualman, 2005).
