It is known that childhood friendships are a fundamental aspect of human development because it helps in shaping our social skills, emotional intelligence and overall well-being as well. We know that childhood friendships provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and practice essential social skills while they are just playing with their friends. Children learn how to communicate, share, negotiate and cooperate with other children and all this through play and interactions. These skills are super important and are crucial for children to start building healthy relationships throughout life as they gain empathy, understanding and the ability to work and collaborate with others. Childhood friendships contribute to the development of emotional intelligence for children. While they play and interact children navigate the complications of their relationships as they learn to recognize, understand and manage their own emotions as well as those of their friends. A key for children to maintain healthy relationships and to navigate the challenges of life is this emotional awareness talked above. A sense of belonging and support is provided by childhood friendships. A child who has close friends are more likely to feel accepted, valued and understood.
