CS 3305 – Web Programming 2 Learning Journal Unit 3 I began this week on Thursday as soon as the week starts as it is one of my priorities to kick off every unit on Thursday. I went through the course forum, and announcements. Revisiting these has helped me plan out how my studies and assignments would go. Reading your announcement for this unit 3 about Introduction to PHP has welcomed me with ideas on what to look forward to in this unit. I continued with the learning guide of unit 3 where I started my learning process. I went through the overview in order to acclimatize myself to the topics, learning objectives, and tasks in hand for this unit. I continued with the introduction and reading assignment where I read the official introduction to PHP from Cowburn,   P. (Ed.). (2018). PHP manual, PHP 5 Tutorial. (n.d.).   w3schools.com., and tutorialspoint simplyeasylearning. These readings and tutorials helped me study on these topics such as: Server-side programming, Languages in server web programming, Intermediate PHP, Learn and Practice the use of PHP. I learned and acquired through these topics some knowledge about how to define the value of server-side programming, to demonstrate the ability to use PHP at an intermediate level, and to define the value of server- side programming. This has summed up the first part of this week for me which was my studies in this unit. I began the next part of this unit by grading my peers’ assignment from unit 2. I was able to read through and grade my peer’s assignment as well as giving them feedback. My assignment’s part started with the discussion forum. This week’s discussion forum was about what is the most popular server programming language, finding which web application or online systems are
programmed with PHP and what are some of the advanced features of PHP. With the help of my studies, I was able to answer all these questions. My response post submission was followed by a read through of my peer’s post. As required, I also revisited often throughout the week and gave constructive as well as positive feedback to my peers. I was excited to have gotten positive and encouraging feedback as well on my discussion post from peers. I continued with my programming assignment next, where we were asked to submit a word document of screenshots of creating a Udemy account and completing the following 3 sections: Introduction, PHP Basics and PHP Arrays.   I ended my assignment part with the self-quiz and our first graded quiz of this course. I was happy to have done well on both. It was another great turn out for this week and while I am wrapping my notes for this learning journal. Each and every unit of this course comes with its ups and downs, but I am excited to always make my way through it. I am happy about how things went and being able to finish all my assignments on time. I look forward to what we will learn next week.
